The sago palm, scientifically known as Cycas revoluta, is not a true palm, but a cycad. These plants have been on our planet for over 280 million years and they have formed an important part of many ecosystems around the world during that time.
The Sago palm is so special. It is a unique botanical that is considered a living fossil. It is hardy and very slow growing, but it makes a beautiful centrepiece for landscaping in a garden in Torrevieja or as an indoor plant in any home that appreciates the wonder of nature and the beauty of this stunning plant with its crown of arching, feathery, dark green leaves.

Cycas palms prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some direct sunlight but should be protected from intense midday sun, which can scorch the leaves. Place them near a window with filtered or partially shaded light for optimal growth.

Cycas palms have moderate water needs. Allow the top few inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly but avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Ensure proper drainage by using a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes.

Cycas palms thrive in temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). They are sensitive to cold temperatures and frost, so it's important to protect them from extreme cold. Avoid placing them near drafts or in areas prone to temperature fluctuations.
