Swan Nordic Ecolabel

TUV Austria Compost at Home

TUV Austria Compost at Home is a certification program offered by TUV Austria, an independent certification organization.

This program focuses on verifying and certifying compostable products and packaging materials that are suitable for home composting.

The certification ensures that the products meet specific standards and requirements for compostability, including biodegradability, disintegration, and absence of harmful substances.

TUV Austria evaluates the materials and products based on internationally recognized standards and guidelines, such as EN 13432 or ASTM D6400, which outline the criteria for compostability.

For a product to receive the TUV Austria Compost at Home certification, it must demonstrate that it will break down into compost within a specific time-frame under typical home composting conditions.

This means that the product should degrade into non-toxic components and contribute to the creation of nutrient-rich compost suitable for gardening or soil improvement.

Forest Stewardship Council
